Quartzite fish spear; probably from the Taunton River.

Irregularly shaped stone with grooved semi-circular line, used in the process of soap-making. Straw and ash-filled barrel places into the grooved lines on the stone. Water would be poured into a barrel, and the resulting liquid (lye) was later boiled with tallow to produce soap.
